Letter to Parents

We are happy to be back at Sandy Spring Friends School and Washington Christian Academy this summer. We will again have a very experienced staff of high school and college athletes, supervised by adult teachers and coaches. I will continue to emphasize in my lectures and in small group instruction the importance of good sportsmanship and being a team player.

The life skills discussions that I integrate into our daily camp schedule will hopefully help your child leave with the camp with more than improved basketball ability. Sports are a great way for children’s self esteem to improve- and this is not just by excelling at the sport- it is by being part of a team and having a positive, caring coach.

Campers come to us in the summer with all different skill levels and experience. Some will move on to be JV and varsity players (in a variety of sports) but many others hopefully will learn that basketball can be a lifetime activity to share with friends and family. As a teacher and parent I have exposed my students and four children to different sports, taught them the fundamentals and tried to make it exciting for them.

My wife, Rosemary, is a pediatric nurse and will work to assure that we have a safe environment for your child. Please do not hesitate to call either of us with any questions.

Sincerely,

Dan Harwood
